Kundalini has become a familiar yet misunderstood word in modern times. The term is shortened from the title of the text, Kundalini Yoga Upanishad. The Upanishads were originally written in Sanskrit, which is a language with unknown origins. The Upanishads are condensed doctrines which explain existential answers about life’s big questions.
Yoga means unity, specifically with your higher self and ‘The’ higher power. Kundalini is the activation of our body’s full human potential. Kundalini is a technique to access both the body’s dormant energy and unites us with the cosmic vibrations flowing throughout the Universe. This Upanishad explains the procedures to reach these abilities and metaphysical connections.
The text is written in terse thoughts, a tradition called sutras, or threads of knowledge to follow. The work references many deeper topics, which the reader is presumed to understand already. It is written as an advanced practice which can only be understood in context to the experience, and not as intellectual contemplation. This practice is more rooted in completely renouncing the material world in an attempt to experience connecting with the Ultimate, called Kaivalya in Sanskrit traditions as the highest realization possible.
The modern idea is that Kundalini is for healing, sexual bliss, or superior worldly performance. The experience is all of those things, but this is a case where ignorance can bring misfortune, including physical, emotional and spiritual injury. The pursuit is not a casual experience, nor is it the Fate of everyone.
Yoga Kundalini Upanishad states some specific postures, focuses and techniques which help activate the body’s mechanical systems for the experience. One particular venture which is well discussed, but seems so unorthodox to western traditions, is call Ketchari.
Ketchari involves cutting the skin under the tongue, and extending it literally into the creases of the brain to stimulate a ‘nectar’ from the inner brain’s glands. This is the same nectar which is described in Daoist practices as the ‘golden nectar’, but is directly stimulate by the tongue in Hindu traditions.
Likewise, the term tantra has been misconstrued in modern times to mean some sort of enlightenment through sex. This is just marketing, because sex sells in Western culture. But, there are definitely some rituals and traditions which do celebrate the union of man and woman in sexual spiritual ecstasy. But, these levels are highly advanced and usually takes years of training to understand, strengthen and utilize the body, for these experiences.
At the highest levels of sexual experience is the union of a man and woman, who have understanding and control of their internal interaction, and can stimulate each others bodies in unison with the cosmic energies, that one of the greatest human experiences can be realized. This can only be actualized with the divine realization and is a gift from Fate for very few. The body, mind and soul must be purged from all impurities, by selfless intention and self control. It is only in the yielding to the Universe, and the strive for purity that this gift can be known. Mind, body and soul are the three keys to this higher experience.
As is commonly understood, the Kundalini experience is the unleashing of this energy Prana, thru the body’s energy pathways, known as the Nadis. There are major and minor Nadis at many levels, with the main three running the length of our spines. These energy channels are described in Chinese traditions as the meridian channels. The two systems are described in slightly different ways, so it must be understood that these words are just symbolic, but the feeling and reality of the technology has to be experienced. It is a physiological experience, so science will one day be able to decipher the chemical interactions, but the main thing to remember is that our consciousness created our bodies in cooperation with the entire Universe, and the Universe refines its needs to perfection. So, all of this tampering with DNA and GMO foods and medicines, is fundamentally ignorant of all the interactions and reactions, when they corrupt Nature. We need to enforce science to limit its potential disasters. It is the corruption of corporate and financial powers which is using science to squeeze the soul out of Nature and our individual soul goals. Once People realize the true power and potential of their soul’s purpose, the world will change.
